12/15/07 Faith “Take A Look at Me Now"
Faith Our Collie
Available for Adoption

Faith, is so rightly named because we all had to have it to help her through her terrible ordeal. Faith was found by a creek, grossly infested with maggots and ticks, that were eating her alive. She was rushed to the vet where she was treated for heat stroke and flushed of the maggots and treated for ticks. The heat stroke caused her to loose the use of her front legs for a couple of days. She is recovering, has gained the use of her legs and is building her strength through exercises and swimming. Her body weight is equal on the front and back legs. This causes her balance to be off. She should be carrying more weight on her front legs. She is obviously under weight at 44 lbs. Her hair was so badly matted she had to be shaved to get her all cleaned up. Faith is about 13 yrs. old and will complete the rest of her vet work and have her teeth cleaned when she regains her strength and weight. To See Faith in therapy, click here. She will be ready for her forever loving home when she has recovered from this ordeal in a few weeks. She is very devoted and loving. Faith walks on a leash and is learning to sit; this is one of her exercises. She is also swimming, who wants to walk in this heat wave anyway???

Faith has made great progress with her daily exercises and her physical therapy. Her sores from the maggots and ticks have healed. She continues to swim with a less buoyant life jacket and is swimming up stream in the water jet. She is a salmon swimming up stream! She is quite amazing. She began walking up steps early last week, showing perfect rhythm. By the end of the week she was using her swimming rhythm to walk down steps. It was very exciting to see! She will be evaluated at the end of the week to determine if she will continue physical therapy. She has done so well. She is very inquisitive, notices everything and just has to check it out. In her new video, you can see how truly loving and what a great girl she is. If you look close, you can even see her spirit!

We continue to be moved by her spirit and determination. Her tests for Lyme, Ehrilicha and heartworm are negative and she is on preventative. She is very devoted and loving. Faith walks on a leash and is learning to sit; this is one of her exercises.
Here is Faith, the official LL Dog Rescue Greeter. She "checks out each person who comes to Petco. She is looking for just right person who will adopt her, hug her and love her forever. Faith has a gentle, sweet spirit. She adores people and the gentle pets they give. Her hair is growing and making her the beautiful Collie girl she is. It is so soft!
She is current on all her vet care and her blood tests are strong. She is on a bit of thyroid meds. After her life threatening ordeal, she was put on meds for incontinence, which is being cut back as she continues to get strong. Faith likes to go for short walks, have her meals and does enjoy her treats!
She loves outings and to give attention. She also wouldn't mind a self directed shopping spree at Petco.
If you are looking for a companion that will adore you, this is the girl. She would do best in a home with limited steps that she would have to use, especially for her potty outings. She can walk them fine, but they are not her favorite thing and heaven forbid they are iced over.

Her big day at the Spa is scheduled. Brenda will give her the full body beautiful treatment. There will probably be some bows and such involved.
